‘Chocolate Chip’ Ajuga grows easily among rocks and contrasts boldly with the trailing stems of the yellow creeping Jenny behind it. Both are deer resistant.

One of my favorite groundcovers is ‘Chocolate Chip’ Ajuga (Ajuga x tenorii 'Valfredda' Chocolate Chip). Ajuga is commonly known as bugleweed. ‘Chocolate Chip’ is a refined variety that forms a dense carpet of glossy, chocolate-purple oval leaves.
