I planted a red leaved Japanese Maple in the corner of this landscape project to add some depth to the scene. It contrasts well with the Japanese Forest Grass in front of it.

Want to add some depth to your landscape? Add a red-leaved tree, shrub or perennial in the back of a planting bed or border. The dark color of the leaves recedes in the background, making any space seem larger. It does not impose itself, allowing other plants to shine.
