Watering is an art of sorts. I learned that the hard way. After I graduated college (studied landscape architecture), I got a job as a gardener at a resort hotel. This was almost 50 years ago. I was told to go water a large flower bed by the main building. I took the hose and started waving it around over the geraniums, night blooming cereus, and more. I sprinkled the air, the leaves, the flowers. I thought I was watering until my French gardener boss came along and started yelling at me in front of the guests, "What are you doing?!”
